The best apps for saving recipes from TikTok and Instagram

You save a cooking video, and a month later you have four hundred of them and no idea which one was the gnocchi. These apps all fix that in different ways. Here is what each one is good at.

We make one of these apps. Repimame is ours. It is the newest name here and has no US ratings yet.

Rating counts were read from the US App Store on 25 August 2026. Features come from what each app says about itself in its own listing.

Ratings are US App Store counts on 25 August 2026. Prices are US prices and change by country. Ours says zero because we opened in English-speaking countries this month.

ReciMe - the safe default

With over a quarter of a million ratings, ReciMe is what most people mean when they say "the app that saves TikTok recipes". It pulls from Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and Pinterest, and it calculates calories, protein, carbs and fat for every recipe.

Pick ReciMe if you want the widest net and you care about nutrition numbers. It is the strongest on this page for both.

CookBook - for the paper pile

CookBook imports from Instagram, TikTok, websites, Facebook, YouTube and Pinterest, and its scanner turns photos of handwritten recipe cards, cookbook pages and screenshots into editable recipes. It also does nutrition, including macros.

Pick CookBook if your recipes are half on your phone and half on index cards in a drawer.

Crouton - hands-free, and beautiful

Crouton has a hands-free mode: in its own words, you "move between steps without touching your device", which it describes as perfect for when you have messy hands.

Crouton shipped hands-free before we did. The two work differently - theirs jumps step to step, ours scrolls the recipe on a pinch the front camera can see - but if hands-free is the only thing you want, start with Crouton.

Pick Crouton if you want hands-free cooking from a mature app and you do not need anything pulled out of the video itself.

Paprika 3 - the one you buy once

$4.99, once, and it is yours. Paprika is built around recipe websites - its browser strips out the life story and keeps the recipe - and it syncs to Mac and Windows. It is not a social-video app and does not pretend to be.

Pick Paprika if your recipes come from food blogs rather than Reels, and you would rather pay once than subscribe.

Repimame - frames from the video, on the steps

This is ours. ReciMe, CookBook and Crouton turn a saved video into text. Repimame gives you the text and pins a frame from the video beside every step the video shows - so "fold until just combined" comes with a picture of what that looks like. A step the video skips stays blank. We looked for this in the four listings above and did not find it.

A recipe in Repimame with a frame from the video beside each step
Our app. Steps 1-4 each have a frame taken from the video; a step the video skips would be left blank.

It also scrolls hands-free while you cook, plans a week onto a calendar, and adds the ingredients up into one shopping list.

What it does not do: no calorie or nutrition counting, no Android and no web version, and the stills work for TikTok and Instagram only - YouTube and websites give you the text. If a caption never says how much flour, we leave it blank rather than invent a number.

Pick Repimame if you cook from short videos and you keep scrubbing back to see what the mixture is supposed to look like. Do not pick it if you need nutrition numbers or you are on Android. Frames from video are on the $1.99 plan, not the free one.
